Don't Sizzle This Summer

  • Story-image

There’s no such thing as a safe suntan, but there are ways to make catching those rays a little safer.

Choose a High SPF With UVA Protection: SPF alone doesn’t work as well without UVA protection. UVA rays can seriously damage you skin as well as increase your risks of developing skin cancer, so make sure your lotion carries both.

Re-apply:
One application of sunscreen won’t fully protect you for the full day – especially if you’re on holiday and in and out of the pool. Make sure you re-apply every few hours, particularly on your shoulders, face and ears.

Boys Beware:
If your hair is shaved then it’s vulnerable and unprotected. Make sure you use at least SPF 30 up there or even better wear a hat at all times!

Lips:
Everyone forgets their lips need special protection from the sun, or they’ll end up dry, flaky and sore – not a good look. Vaseline makes a great SPF 15 lipbalm for just £1.69 or splash out on Uvistat lipscreen SPF 50, £4.95 (from Boots).

Cool Eyewear:
Shield your eyes from those harsh UVA and UVB rays when you’re in the sun and you’ll not only look cool, you’ll be protecting your eyes against long term damage.

Above are some celebrities proving you don’t need to be brown to be a babe!
